a fleeting glimpse
for anyone who doesn't go to the u of washington, i took the last of my spring quarter finals the week before last. it was on a thursday. relatively late, so most of my friends and floormates had already finished, packing up whatever belongings they had brought and collected over the year. moved out.
i had one week of relative freedom before summer quarter started. it was nice, not to have to cram and study every day. not that i did, but hey, it counts to have tried, right?
a few months ago i had applied to work at a company called sharpshooter imaging. i've been working for a couple of weeks now. it's pretty simple, we take pictures of tourists who go on 'ride the duck' tours. it's actually pretty fun. i've met some interesting characters, and no, not all of them are coworkers! you'd be surprised how amusing some of the tourists are. it's pretty good because there are almost always little children present and i've made it a hobby to make all sorts of odd faces at them, haha. it's entertaining, what can i say!
summer quarter has just begun now. we're in our second week. i'm taking only one class- psych research- because of my job. i'm also trying to find time to do more shoots and meet people. hopefully i'll be able to go mountain climbing and possibly skydiving in the coming weeks. there's no better time to live a little than summer.
i'll blog more though. not just pictures, but words! now that i actually have the time to write them. pinky promise.

the days are getting warmer
today seattle had a day that reminded me so much of summer. i went around pike place market with a couple of friends, walking around the fish shops that sold shrimp cocktail and fat salmon that sat on shelves of crushed ice. we ate fruit logs and piroshkies and drank icy chocolate frappacinos while on the bus to the beach (where we then had ice cream, which was pretty yummy. just saying).
it's nice having occasional days like these, warm and lazy and full of contentment.

back home
so a few days ago (five, to be exact), i landed in hong kong. it's my first time back since june of last year and i walked around today just looking at all the things that have changed since. a lot is still the same but it's the little things that used to be that aren't anymore; a starbucks missing here, construction where there didn't used to be. i guess it's a part of living in the city. everything is constantly changing.
i know i'm going to miss being here soon. friends, the view out my window, the constant life. it doesn't feel like hong kong ever sleeps. maybe it never does.

the ave
the days are starting to alternate between monochromatic gray and color now. just a few snapshots i took while walking up the ave (it's a sort of mini village where you can find coffeeshops, restaurants and a few random places,, all on one road)
i miss shooting, i haven't really taken pictures in a while. wish finals weren't coming up..

golden girl
i was walking out after oceanography class and found this place. biked up to the dorms and made my roommate ashley model (she's wonderful for cutting off her nap just to take pictures with me). it was a serene kind of pretty; not summer, but a sort of golden autumn. the leaves scattered on the ground looked alive again

my roommate jo (jo for joelle), lamp lit
i'm so happy with college life right now. i can do everything; soccer, meet people, explore. i'm taking twenty credits this quarter so i'm always busy (typing this is my procrastination from oceanography reading and let me tell you, there's a lot of it) but i love it anyways
oh and look forward to new pictures soon! just finished off three shoots and i have another this weekend. but what can i say, sleep is for the weak

sorry for being dull
it hasn't been much of a blog lately, has it? i'm so incredibly sorry for not updating this space, so here's a few pictures + words from the past few weeks
i like it when the sun dyes the clouds some extraordinary color you've never seen or thought existed. like golden pink. or red tangerine, like the kind in grapefruits, only softer
i took this photo with my iphone a sunny after-day in new jersey this summer. who says cell phone cameras aren't any good!
sitting with friends on alki beach, soaking up the last of summer

even though i've only done efs (early fall start) and haven't started the actual autumn quarter yet, it feels like i've already been in college for a while. i like it here. the campus is pretty and seattle is unlike any other city i've been to; tokyo, nyc, hong kong, beijing, etc. pike's place reminds me of a small, quaint seaside village tucked away behind mountains. the people here are wonderful also. i was walking to fifth avenue with my friend lily and a stranger tapped me on the shoulder and asked if i forgot my angel wings. i didn't understand him at first. i suppose to some people this would be weird, but i've never had anyone randomly approach me and give me a compliment. it was sort of nice
it'll be so interesting when everyone moves in for school. i've talked to my two roommates already and they're lovely (both on the inside and out), not to mention we're right outside the girls' bathroom and on the second floor. can't say i have anything to complain about! and i just got a new bike today (returned my old purple one to the store), i've named it ray because it's a raleigh, haha. i need to stop naming everything i own

imaginary sundays

alissa aka sissy, my awesome 7 year old sister/model
so i kind of started a new blog. i'm not sure how many of you actually bothered reading the old one (i posted like what, once a month?) but i'll definitely update more on this..kind of like a photo journal. i think i'm going to put all my photos from shoots and any behind the scenes and random entries on here instead of facebook or twitter :)
